‘Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision’ Trailer Takes You Inside the Legendary Studio’s Creation (EXCLUSIVE)


'The construction of [Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios] was a nightmare,' says Eddie Kramer in this trailer. 'We were always running out of money.'

Featuring interviews with Hendrix’s longtime engineer Eddie Kramer (who helped design and build Electric Lady), singer-keyboardist Steve Winwood (who joined Hendrix on the first night of recording at the new studio), bassist Billy Cox and many of the people involved in its construction, the doc tells the story of the studio’s conceptualization and construction, which opened less than a month before Hendrix’s tragic death in September of 1970. A small selection of artists who have recorded there includes John Lennon, The Clash, AC/DC, Chic, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, whose collaborator Jack Antonoff has recorded there with many other artists. from Experience Hendrix, L.L.C., and will be premiering it on August 9 at Quad Cinema, less than a half mile from the still-thriving Electric Lady Studios.
