Jon Spaihts has been tapped to direct a live-action sci-fi thriller for Laika, in his feature debut, following his work on the 'Dune' films' scripts.
On Thursday, Laika continued to tease big live-action plans with the announcement of a new sci-fi thriller written and to be directed by Jon Spaihts, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind the Dune films, in his feature debut. He is one of the most imaginative and inventive storytellers working today, and we’re honored to partner with him as he brings his unique vision and soul to the director’s chair for the first time with a wholly original idea that is as thought-provoking as it is moving.” Amid its accelerating expansion into live-action, Laika has begun plotting its entrée into television, as we told you first, with the appointment of Amblin alum Alex Maggioni to the role of Head of TV.
