The 'Dora the Explorer' franchise's new live-action movie has tapped up-and-comer Jacob Rodriguez for the key role of Diego, Deadline can reveal.

Lauded for its interactive format and bilingual content spanning English and Spanish, the Dora the Explorer franchise kicked off with a Nickelodeon animated series of the same same, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes, and Eric Weiner, which ran for 177 episodes across eight seasons. A Mexican American actor from the small agricultural town of Dinuba, California, Rodriguez can next be seen in a recurring role in the second season of Hulu’s T ell Me Lies, which is set to premiere this fall.
