Peter Straughan Wins the Award of Best Screenplay fro "Conclave" during the 82nd Annual Golden Globes held at The Beverly Hilton on January 05, 2025 in Beverly Hills, California.Rich Polk/Getty The Papal whodunnit Conclave, written by Straughan who adapted the book of the same name by Robert Harris, set in the Vatican follows Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Lawrence, a man of faith challenged by personal doubts after the death of the current pope reveals corruption and secrets within the Church. “I am one pure ball of gratitude squeezed into a tux,” Straughan said on stage as he thanked the cast and crew. You can borrow this any weekend you want.” Conclave also scored six nominations in Best Motion Picture—Drama, Best Original Score—Motion Picture, Best Director for Edward Berger and acting noms for Fiennes and Isabella Rossellini.
