'Conclave', 'Two Popes' Streaming Viewership Skyrockets Post Pope Francis' Death
The Edward Berger directed movie is a fictional account of the election process after a Pope dies, Ralph Fiennes playing a key cardinal in the mix. The FilmNation financed, Focus Features stateside distributed movie was also a huge grossing title around the world earning over $115M on a $20M production cost. That movie, which starred Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis and Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict, was nominated for Pryce as Best Actor at the Oscars, Hopkins in Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay by Anthony McCarten.
