‘Cheers’ Actor George Wendt Dead at 76


Cheers alum George Wendt, best known as Norm, has died at age 76, leaving a legacy of humor and beloved TV moments

“Beloved actor and comedian, George Wendt, best known for starring in the NBC hit comedy Cheers, has passed away,” a rep for his family told Us Weekly in a statement. “George’s family confirmed the news of his death early Tuesday morning, announcing he died peacefully in his sleep while at home. Aaron Rapoport/Corbis via Getty ImagesOver the years, Wendt also gained recognition for playing Chicago Bears superfan Bob Sweski on Saturday Night Live.
