Crematorium du Pere lies just nextdoor to a cemetery of the same name, which serves as the burial site for a string of significant figures in history, including The Doors frontman Jim Morrison and Irish playwright Oscar Wilde. The graveyard, the most visited in the world and the largest in Paris, covers around 110 acres in the centre of the French capital and is also where the likes of Edith Piaf, Sarah Berhardt, Molière, Frederic Chopin and Colette rest. In 2018, she claimed to Page Six that the vast majority of her wealth disappeared because one of the paintings that was part of the trust set up for her in the divorce settlement, attributed to Diego Velázquez, turned out to be a forgery, while a Cézanne that was expected to go for around $35million on auction only sold for $4.7m.
