‘Breaking Bad’ Creator Vince Gilligan Urges More Good Guys in Stories Now That Bad Guys Have Taken Over the World: ‘God Help Us, They’ve Become Aspirational’
In his speech at the WGA Awards, 'Breaking Bad' creator Vince Gilligan said we need more good guys on TV, that Walter White shouldn't be aspirational.
“I really think that, when we create characters as indelible as Michael Corleone or Hannibal Lecter or Darth Vader or Tony Soprano, viewers everywhere, all around the world, they pay attention,” he said. It was brilliantly written by Peter Gould, George Mastras, Moira Wally-Beckett, Sam Catlin, Tom Schnauz and Gennifer Hutchinson — I think I left out one or two people.
