‘Between the Temples’ star Carol Kane explains how she stayed on top of her game during her long, “peculiar” career: “Showbiz is a lot of quicksand”

Primetime Emmy awards followed in the early ’80s, for James L. Brooks’ hit show Taxi, in which she played the wife of Andy Kaufman’s character Latka Gravas. Called Between the Temples and directed by Nathan Silver, it stars Jason Schwartzman as Ben, a depressed cantor at a suburban synagogue who is mourning the death of his wife after a freak accident.
