5 Hot Stories: Jay-Z Lawsuit, 2025 Golden Globes Nominations

Jay-Z filed to dismiss a civil lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old in 2000 and more of Us Weekly's top stories

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the 55-year-old rapper asked to dismiss the civil suit “for lack of subject matter jurisdiction due to the plaintiff’s lack of standing,” claiming that the Jane Doe “provided no evidence” to the court that would “justify pseudonymity.” News broke on Sunday, December 8, that Jay-Z was named alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in the lawsuit, which claimed that the alleged victim was assaulted by the musicians at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000 when she was 13 years old. Nominations were announced on Monday, December 9, for the 2025 Golden Globes, with Selena Gomez, Glen Powell, Demi Moore and other A-listers up for awards. Travis Kelce ’s NFL schedule prevented him from seeing girlfriend Taylor Swift ’s final Eras Tour show in person, but fans caught a subtle nod to the pop star in an Arrowhead Stadium suite.
