Heat stars Al Pacino as Vincent Hanna, a Los Angeles cop determined to capture a band of criminals who stole $1.6 million from an armored car. The movie tells the inspirational real-life story of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettinger ( Sean Astin), a young working-class man whose dream is to play football at Notre Dame. The effort paid off big time — the Edith Wharton adaptation is one of Scorsese’s best, and features great performances by Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder.
