Elizabeth Banks walked the blue carpet on the Santa Monica Pier for Sunday's Independent Spirit Awards. She wore a short, red dress with an unusual cut and shoulder pads.

Nominees were determined by the Spirit Awards Nominating Committees using the following guidelines: uniqueness of vision, original and provocative subject matter and economy of means.
