17 Classic Summer-Camp Movies, Ranked

All the fun of staying up late in your bunk, without the bug bites.

When good old Uncle Lou (Alan Arkin) wants to relive the glory years of Camp Tamakwa(which is an actual place in Ontario), he invites a group of grown campers back to revisit their youth and figure out adulthood. A parody of all the movies on this list, this ensemble comedy (featuring pre-fame Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, and Elizabeth Banks) has counselors chasing after each other, kids running amok, and a camp that is in danger of being closed. What makes this mockumentary excellent is that it both hews close to the conventions of the summer-camp genre — lovable misfits have to band together to save a cash-strapped camp from greedy developers — and is a loving roast of all sorts of try-hard theater kids.
