His father, James Broderick, was also an actor, noted for performances in mid 1970s films including Dog Day Afternoon and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. One year after the couple’s Broadway debut, Sarah and Matthew tied the knot at New York City’s Angel Orensanz Synagogue on May 19, 1997. Since Carrie was in a budding relationship with writer Jack Berger, the pregnancy was not written into the show and Sarah’s wardrobe was altered to give her more flowy and loose outfits to hide her baby bump.
