What to Know About Closing Arguments in Diddy’s Sex-Trafficking Trial

Closings — which are the prosecution’s and defense’s last time to make their cases before jurors — come after eight weeks of proceedings that saw multiple witnesses describe Diddy as a coercive abuser who allegedly pressured women into unwanted sex acts. Two women, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and “Jane,” described being lured into these sex acts under the false pretenses of a romantic relationship with Diddy, then sticking around for years because of his alleged violence and threats. At various points during the trial, Diddy’s team suggested that sexual encounters with female partners and male escorts — known as “Freak Offs” or “Wild King Nights” — were consensual kink and not criminal.
