VFX Workers on ‘Avatar,’ Marvel and Disney Projects Ratify IATSE Contracts


VFX workers at Disney and Marvel, as well as those who work on 'Avatar,' have ratified their first IATSE contracts.

Visual effects workers on “ Avatar,” as well those who work at Marvel and Disney, have ratified their first labor contract, in a significant step for the VFX industry. The contracts include standard union protections like overtime pay, eligibility for the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plan, meal penalties, rest periods and turnaround times. “I want to congratulate the member of these VFX bargaining units on negotiating fair contracts that earned such strong support,” said Matthew Loeb, international president of IATSE.
