The frenzy alone attests to the fact that the whole audience has just invested so much in the plight of Emmett, the whole relationship with Keisha, and the whole contentious situation regarding his mother Jada’s health issues. The Chi has managed to carve out a place for itself in the world through raw, hit-you-in-the-face storytelling, but there has to be a point where the hardcore ends, and with the remaining season diving headfirst into dark themes of loss, trauma, and redemption, the viewers are more than ready for a breath of fresh air.
