Snakes, Bugs and Lots of Hugs: The Making of Survival Horror Pic ‘Titan’ in Colombia
Lured by Colombia’s competitive tax incentives, ‘Titan’ producer Jeremy Bolt decided on Colombia after meeting with Jaguar Bite and dept. heads.
Armed with a script penned by Tony Giglio (“Chaos”), Alan B. McElroy (“Spawn”) and director Mike P. Nelson (“Wrong Turn”), he and Constantin Film ’s physical production exec Bernhard Thür (“Resident Evil: Afterlife”) headed to Colombia, lured by its competitive tax incentives and positive renown, to meet with production service company Jaguar Bite and location scout the Amazon and jungle areas for accessibility. With the exception of themselves, director Mike P. Nelson, their DoP Nick Junkersfeld (“Wrong Turn”) and some actors, the rest of the cast and crew were Colombian. “It was tough in the jungle, shooting with the elements, the beasts, the sun, the heat and everything but there was still a very good atmosphere on set,” Thür concurs, adding that the department heads stayed on target with their respective budgets.
