On Wednesday, the Grammy-winning artist unveiled an alternate choice of cover art for her upcoming “ Man’s Best Friend ” album, due out Aug. 29. This version is a black and white photograph of Carpenter laying her head on a suited man’s shoulder, with other men slightly visible in the distance. The original, shot by Bryce Anderson, drew a lot of attention and controversy, with many critiquing the image as a provocative and degrading towards women.
