Ralph Fiennes has so many questions about Pope Leo XIV watching Conclave before his election: 'Did he enjoy it?'

Ralph Fiennes reacts to Pope Leo XIV watching 'Conclave' before his actual conclave, sharing more questions than thoughts: 'Did he enjoy it? Did he just shrug his shoulders and say halfway through, ‘This is rubbish’? Did he get something from it?'

Naturally, Entertainment Weekly asked Fiennes — currently promoting 28 Years Later, the newest horror entry from Danny Boyle and Alex Garland ’s 28 Days Later franchise — for his thoughts on such sacred matter. From director Edward Berger, the film starred Fiennes as a cardinal who, in his task to select a new pope, finds himself caught in a web of conspiracies and deep secrets that could shake up the Catholic Church. Also starring Isabella Rossellini, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow, the thriller earned eight nominations at the 2025 Oscars, including a lead actor nod for Fiennes, and took home one win for best adapted screenplay.
