Original Blade writer is 'baffled' by delay in Marvel's movie reboot: 'It should not be complicated'

David S. Goyer, who penned the original 'Blade' trilogy, is 'baffled' by the Marvel reboot facing so many delays: 'It should have insane ass-kicking. It should be pretty scary... It should not be complicated.'

After cycling through a series of writers and directors, Blade was pulled from Marvel's release calendar last year and remains in creative limbo. During his chat with podcast host Josh Horowitz, Goyer added that he has seen the social media posts asking him to work on the reboot — but has complicated feelings on the matter. Mogul Mowgli filmmaker Bassam Tariq was later hired to direct the film, with Watchmen ’s Stacy Osei-Kuffour writing the screenplay pegged to a Nov. 3, 2023 release date.
