One in seven parents 'selling possessions' to pay for soaring cost of school trips
Mums and dads have said they have needed to make their own sacrifices and "go without" to be able to afford to send their child on an educational excursion
Over a fifth (22%) of parents reported that their child’s school had either paid for the entire cost of a trip, contributed towards it, or engaged in fundraising to ensure students didn’t miss out on these valuable educational experiences. Jason Elsom, CEO of Parentkind, a network championing PTA fundraisers, commented: "School trips are an important milestone in children's lives and something that many of us look back on and reminisce about as we get older. "School trips should conjure up happy memories, but the truth of the matter is that they're now often steeped with guilt or embarrassment as parents struggle to find the money to pay for their children to attend."
