New law to give people time off work if they lose baby before 24 weeks
It comes as part of amendments set to be made to the Employment Rights Bill
Reflecting on his own family's encounters with pregnancy loss, he shared the tough choices faced by those balancing the need to grieve with the pressure to return to work or opt for sick leave, adding an extra layer of strain to an already distressful time. "Grief doesn't follow a timetable, and expanding rights to leave for pregnancy loss will ensure every family gets the time they need to heal without worrying about their job," he said. Deputy Prime Minister Ms Rayner championed the move, stating that "no one who is going through the heartbreak of pregnancy loss should have to go back to work before they are ready".
