Andrew Garfield remembered working with Mel Gibson on the 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge, one decade after the director's DUI arrest and anti-semitic remarks.
Gibson directed Hacksaw Ridge a decade after he was arrested in July 2006 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated along the Pacific Coast highway in Malibu, California. The Braveheart actor pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of driving with an elevated blood-alcohol level and was sentenced to three years of probation, per People. “I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge.”
