Marla Gibbs Announces Memoir It’s Never Too Late

Marla Gibbs, beloved actress known for hit sitcoms like 'The Jeffersons' and '227,' will publish her memoir 'It's Never Too Late' in 2026.

The Emmy nominee and NAACP Image Award winner is best-known for roles like the family maid Florence Johnston on hit sitcom The Jeffersons, as well as matriarch Mary Jenkins on 227, for which she also sang the theme song and produced. “It is an honor that Amistad, one of the most esteemed African American imprints in publishing, has chosen my life story to be among their selective canon of powerful narratives,” Gibbs said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. In February, she received the Hollywood Legacy Award at the American Black Film Festival Honors, where she acknowledged the support of her fans in her acceptance speech.
