Kneecap rapper won't be charged over 'kill your local politician' controversy

A member of the Irish rap trio Kneecap will not face charges over comments made during a London gig last year, the Metropolitan Police has said, with the case against Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, also known as Mo Chara, being dropped

During his November 2023 tirade, Mo Chara didn't hold back, urging the audience to "kill your local MP" and spewing heated slurs against Tories. Vylan's live broadcast of the chant "death to the IDF" on BBC iPlayer has sparked outrage, including from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who condemned the statement as "appalling hate speech." In previous shows, the trio has been known to lead chants that deride former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and advocate for the end of British presence in Northern Ireland.
