In her existing review, King explained what made this year’s Tonys extra special: ‘Starting with @cynthiaerivo as host ✅ spectacular performances ✅✅ funny, poignant and powerful speeches ✅✅✅,’ as the checkmarks seemed to be given by a theater critic with stars. Other commentaries diverged with wild slideshows through the disturbed comments section, among which one bizarrely urged King to “speak out” on current events, somehow managing to cram in name drops for Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump before doing so.
