From Walford to Weatherfield – the beloved stars who've returned to Soapland


Here, we take a look at some of the characters who have waved goodbye to some of our favourite soaps – only to make a surprise return, often decades later...

Michelle lived in the States but returned to Albert Square after 20 years (Image: PA) EastEnders ’ Zoe gave us the most iconic line in soap history when she screeched, “You ain’t my muvva!” to ‘sister’ Kat, only for her to yell back, “Yes I am!” Michelle Ryan, 40, made her sensational comeback after a staggering 20 years, after starring in US show Bionic Woman. After a whopping 38-year absence from Ramsay Street, 73-year-old Briony Behets, the actress who played her, made her return to Erinsborough in April, when viewers saw her settle into local retirement community Eirini Rising. Clare’s show-stopping return was also linked to a larger storyline involving a child exploitation operation and a confrontation with Tom Cunningham, who she previously terrorized - all part of the Cheshire soap’s big 30th anniversary celebrations.
