Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama praises Tony-winning First Lady spoof Oh, Mary!: 'Oh yes'

From one First Lady to another, Michelle Obama has given her seal of approval to 'Oh, Mary!' — the Tony-winning play taking an irreverent look at the life of Mary Todd Lincoln.

Obama explained that she usually tries to sneak into productions after the lights have dimmed, "so I don't think that people knew I was there." Written by Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, the darkly comedic production centers on a miserable Mary Todd in the weeks leading up to her husband's assassination. In a review, Entertainment Weekly hailed the production as the"funniest play on Broadway" amid an otherwise "already-dysfunctional" political landscape.
