Forget James Gunn's 'Superman' — Watch This TV Show That Gets the Man of Steel Right

This underrated HBO Max series is the perfect summer binge-watch — and even better than James Gunn's 'Superman' movie that's now in theaters

In this animated series from Adult Swim, Clark Kent (voiced winningly by Jack Quaid of The Boys) is getting started as an intern at the Daily Planet, and he’s been repressing his superpowers for years. It goes big, embracing quirky comic book villains like Mister Mxyzptlk ( David Errigo Jr.), The Brain ( Jesse Inocalla) and Monsieur Mallah ( André Sogliuzzo). Even at its darker moments — and there are plenty of “all is lost” beats that are genuinely devastating — My Adventures with Superman is a fun show that feels like a Saturday morning cartoon that grown-ups can enjoy along with kiddies.
