Ari Aster’s “Eddington” stars Phoenix as the sheriff of a small New Mexico town during the COVID pandemic who surprises everyone when he announces – including his wife, played by Stone – that he’s going to run for mayor against the incumbent (Pedro Pascal). Rounding out the cast are Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deidre O’Connell, Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., Amélie Hoeferle, Matt Gomez Hidaka, Cameron Mann and William Belleau. Just hours before the “Eddington” premiere, Focus Features released the trailer for Stone’s other upcoming movie, “Bugonia,” directed by her frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos.
