Elvis Presley ‘Sunset Boulevard’ Boxed Set to Include Raw Studio Sessions From Singer’s Final Era
Raw recording sessions from Elvis Presley's last years will be released as part of a boxed set due this summer titled 'Sunset Boulevard.'
Elvis Presley fans will get another fix of his unaugmented studio sessions on Aug. 1 when RCA/Legacy releases “Sunset Boulevard,” a five-CD boxed set that will focus on material the King was recording in Los Angeles during the last years of his life in the 1970s. The music contained in the vinyl double-album and the first two-fifths of the CD box is described as a “highlights” set, featuring new, previously unreleased mixes from Grammy winner Matt Ross-Spang, in which all overdubs will have been removed from the recordings, “delivering fresh insights in the process,” as well as select studio outtakes. The boxed set will include archival photos, new liner notes from music historian Colin Escott and an introduction by Presley’s longtime friend Jerry Schilling.
