An actress has revealed she finally landed a role on BBC's EastEnders after being rejected by BBC bosses three decades prior

An EastEnders star has revealed she was rejected by the BBC soap at the start of her acting career, after finally making her debut on the hit show during a recent episode. Actress Shazia Mirza appeared in Wednesday's (9 July) instalment of EastEnders as Dr Ayub, who was on hand to share the latest updates about the cause of baby Jimmy's blindness with Lauren Branning ( Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law). Ahead of the episode airing, Shazia took to Instagram to reveal she'd actually written to EastEnders bosses to ask for a role in the BBC soap at the start of her career, 37 years ago.
