Diego Luna was surprised Rogue One director wanted him based on Y Tu Mamá También: 'I was like, 'What?'
Diego Luna said he was cast in 'Rogue One' because Gareth Edwards loved him in 'Y Tu Mamá También': 'I was like, 'What?'
In the latest episode of Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, Luna shared that Rogue One director Gareth Edwards set up a call with him and he was unsure of what the meeting would entail. "The director said to me, 'I want to do a film in this universe that tonally feels very realistic, close to what you guys did in Y Tu Mamá También,'" Luna recalled. "He wanted to make a very particular Star Wars movie, with a different style of acting and hyperrealistic tone bordering on naturalism," Luna told Vanity Fair.
