Instagram/@derezdeshon Rapper Derez De’Shon generated a stir on the internet after making an incendiary comment on dating preferences by one of his hits, “Hardaway.” He queerized the matters a bit with a now-deleted Instagram post that elicited mixed responses. The storytime was endless on relationships: “AYE I LOVE MINES @derezdeshon GOT ME OUT THEM SKREETS AND LIVING PEACEFULLY,” an obvious flavor that stretched the entire gamut from merely physical attraction to better quality of life and companionship. Though De’Shon never really meant to be serious about the comment, the passionate responses prove that indeed dating preferences and perceptions of race and gender remain highly controversial issues.
