One of the most powerful black figures in Hollywood is being sued for $260 million (£193 million) in a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault.
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in California in 2020, recently unshackled from royal duty and in urgent need of a roof over their heads, they got an $18 million one – courtesy of a billionaire they barely knew. Perry reportedly waived the rent and even dispatched his private jet to ferry the Sussexes from British Columbia to their new home, throwing in the services of his security team to provide the close protection they so highly value. Perry denies the charges and his lawyers dismissed the lawsuit as a ‘scam’ engineered by an individual who got close to their client, adding: ‘Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.’
