Only recently did Gary strike up a friendship with Lou who was alienated from the cobbles due to her partner Mick Michaelis' heinous crime against young PC Craig Tinker, where he killed him in a fit of rage. Gary boldly dared Lou to spill the beans to Maria, claiming their innocence, and also revealed to his family his plan to leave Weatherfield for a bit to be with his mum. The plot thickens as viewers will discover Gary unconscious in hospital and in a critical condition, sparking speculation about Lou's involvement due to her blackmail scheme, or if Mick, her husband, could have staged an attack from prison.
