Rugg took time out to run with MSM reporting from the South China Morning Post that Chinese producers would be bearing 65% of the recent tariff costs as opposed to having them passed on to American consumers. Some remarked “prices drop really hurts your feelings” sarcastically, while another stormed on to say that “the media live in a hypothetical world of fear and control tactics.” What is actually interesting about these off-the-cuff reactions is how inflation has become embedded within certain circles, irrespective of what the real numbers might show.
