Two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields has teamed up with Hitsville Gym, Dr. Travis Barber, and the City of College Park to offer a FREE youth boxing camp in Atlanta at the Young Champions summer program, scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from July 8 to 31. “‘Wish that was in New Jersey,” uttered one follower, good for another plea, “Come to LA next.” The wide spread of these requests leaves little doubt about the desperate need for accessible youth sports programming and the widespread appeal of Shields as an inspiration. By removing financial barriers and providing great coaching, Young Champions camp stands at the very center of paying it forward for the boxer.
