Cannes: Falling Palm Tree Injures Pedestrian, Closing Down Section of Croisette
A pedestrian was injured after strong winds at Cannes blew down a palm tree on Saturday near the film festival.
It was not immediately clear what injuries the person had suffered, but according to Screen International, “A man was…seen lying on the ground with blood coming from his head, being attended to by fellow pedestrians, and emergency services were called.” The weekend is filled with high-profile premieres including “Nouvelle Vague,” Richard Linklater’s look at the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless,” and “Die My Love,” a Lynne Ramsay thriller withJennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. Several other star-studded premieres will take place in the coming days, including those for Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest,” which will bring out Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky, and Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme,” which stars Benicio del Toro, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Hanks.
