California Legislative Leaders Agree on $750 Million in Funding for Film and TV Credit
California legislative leaders have accepted Gov. Gavin Newsom's proposal to more than double the film and TV credit, in a win for the industry.
California lawmakers have agreed to expand the state’s film and TV tax incentive to $750 million a year, marking a win for the industry and for Gov. The state Senate and Assembly leadership have accepted Newsom’s proposed funding level, which more than doubles the program from $330 million. In its place, legislators created a 2% bonus for productions that hire one to four trainees from a jobs program targeted at “traditionally underserved” communities.
