Abby Wambach Says Teammate Thought She ‘Died’ When Hearing About DUI Arrest

Abby Wambach shared how her 2016 DUI arrest led her to sobriety and reflected on her USWNT teammates’ concerns during the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast

Wambach, 44, admitted during the Wednesday, May 7, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that her drinking and prescription pill usage was “out of control” leading up to her retirement from professional soccer. The Portland Police Department confirmed at the time that Wambach was arrested and charged after she was pulled over for running a red light. Kelly Osbourne, who previously talked about being sober for six years, revealed in April 2021 that she had suffered a relapse and was working on next steps.
