A$AP Rocky Talks ‘Gut-Wrenching and Nerve-Racking’ Gun Assault Trial for the First Time
A$AP Rocky said his recent gun assault trial, for which he was acquitted, inspired both his music and movie endeavors in a new interview.
In a new interview with Variety, the rapper-actor told writer Angelique Jackson that his former friend A$AP Relli’s allegation that Rocky shot at him multiple times in November 2021 taught him to “focus on your own actions.” The toll of the legal proceedings manifested both in his music and acting, with the trial informing his appearance in Spike Lee’s upcoming Highest 2 Lowest film, which he stars in alongside Denzel Washington. Rocky said that he “embodied” his Highest 2 Lowest character Yung Felon during a courtroom scene because in real life he was due to stand trial.
