‘Shiny Happy People’ Renewed for Season 2: Everything to Know
Shiny Happy People season 2 focuses on Teen Mania's rise and fall, premiering July 23 on Prime Video
While the first season focused on the dark secrets of the Duggar family, Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War will tackle the rise and fall of Teen Mania, the once–hugely popular Evangelical group behind the touring “Acquire the Fire” stadium shows. An official synopsis reads: “The series bursts with peak Millennial nostalgia and cringe, featuring colossal stadiums filled with teens enraptured by religious rock anthems, inspired to swear purity oaths and eagerly embark by the thousands on culturally questionable global missions. Teen Mania Ministries, which existed between 1986 and 2015, was endorsed by some of the most influential figures in the Christian evangelism movement at the height of its success, including Pat Robertson of The 700 Club, Moral Majority cofounder Jerry Falwell and 20-time Grammy-winning gospel musician Kirk Franklin.
