'I'm protecting my children by starving to death this summer'

EXCLUSIVE: Emma Bray, 42, has been given just months to live after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease two years ago. She has now made the heartbreaking decision to end her life this summer

Having already enjoyed a "bucket list holiday" in the Maldives and thrown an End Of Life Party, Emma is now preparing for her "last bit of parenting" by ensuring her children don't see her suffer or suddenly choking to death, reports the Mirror. "I have carers multiple times a day, can't be left alone overnight and can no longer do basic tasks; scratch an itch, push up my glasses, move a sheet if I'm too hot or cold. Compassion In Dying explains that VSED is when an adult "with mental capacity to decide to do so and in the absence of control or coercion, makes a decision to hasten their death by completely stopping the oral intake of all food and fluids".
