‘28 Years Later’ Ignites U.K., Ireland Box Office

Sony’s horror sequel '28 Years Later' opened atop the U.K. and Ireland box office, scaring up $6.4 million on debut.

Bollywood release “Sitaare Zameen Par” from AA Films U.K. debuted in seventh with $306,576, ahead of Lionsgate U.K.’s “From The World of John Wick: Ballerina,” which added $263,134 in its third frame for a $4.2 million total. Universal counters on Friday with the release of sequel “M3GAN 2.0.” Also opening wide is Paramount’s 30th anniversary 4K reissue of Amy Heckerling’s teen classic “Clueless,” which returns to more than 300 cinemas with Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz once again navigating high school hallways in style. Documentary “The Line We Crossed,” from Page75 Productions, focuses on civil resistance in the U.K., while “Words Of War,” released via Signature Entertainment, brings together Maxine Peake, Jason Isaacs and Ciarán Hinds for a dramatized version of journalist Anna Politkovskaya’s crusade, fighting for an independent voice in Putin’s Russia.
