Hoult does a commendable job portraying a “reverse zombification,” slowly breathing more life into his performance as he and Julie grow closer. That’s essentially the premise of Galaxy Quest, a hilarious film in which the cast of a sci-fi series ( Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Daryl Mitchell and Sam Rockwell) is enlisted to help in an interstellar conflict. An alien society with no concept of fiction needs their help to defeat an invading force — and the actors, many of whom resent their lifelong association with the show, must step up to save the day.
